VIEWING GUIDELINES
Once downloaded, HHC Digital should open automatically in Adobe Acrobat Reader, which should be pre-installed on pretty much any computer bought since the 5 1/4" floppy disc BBC Micro days. If you don't have it, click here to get in the game.

HHC Digital is designed to be read comfortably on your computer screen - and looks swelligant if you hit the 'Full Screen' button in Acrobat - but you can also print it out to read on the train/bus/toilet. It'll also work on your iPhone or lesser-branded mobile communications device - and we'll have an optimised version coming soon.

We recommend using Firefox to download it (available here), though there shouldn't be any problems using your browser of choice.

HHC Digital’s rap round-up…
By Richard Watson
Down With The King: This week, there was heartening news for anyone missing hip-hop’s early-’90s fixation with pyramids, pharaohs and all things Egyptian as Kanye West visited the Tutankhamun exhibition in Times Square. Yeezy returned satisfied that, while the late King Tut had the jewelry and interior design games on [...]

Sugar Hill Records: The Inside Story

Share

Sugar Hill Records is the original hip-hop hit factory. The label, run by Sylvia and Joe Robinson, brought rap to the masses by scoring big off-the-bat with the Sugar Hill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight.” While the label’s reputation has since been tainted by talk of shafting artists, at its peak their Englewood, New Jersey studio saw [...]

Down With The King: Just when you thought hip-hop had paid its last tributes to Michael Jackson, Redman came off the wall with his new video − although The King of Pop was surely pirouetting in his grave as Reggie bigged up his own Argyle socks over MJ’s trademark sequinned [...]

My posse’s on Broadway: Clearly gunning for the title of Hip-hop’s Andrew Lloyd Webber, RZA announced his desire to bring 36 Chambers to the stage. Great news for hip-hop heads disappointed by Wicked’s extremely loose interpretation of Ice Cube’s oeuvre, and roll on the West End version with Jonathan Wilkes [...]

Children’s Story: Seemingly intent on outdoing Jim Jones’ recent cameo in the classroom, Swizz Beatz adopted a Bronx arts school − his first move was kitting the music lab out with a load of Bontempi organs damaged during the making of ‘Money, Cash, Hoes’. Meanwhile, when not hyping a [...]

Making mad money off the book this year: In news that surely had George Pelecanos and Richard Price reeling, the official synopsis for Styles P’s debut novel Invincible hit the web. Pinero’s literary opus concerns a record store owner who, in jail for shooting two stick-up kids, receives a message [...]

HHC Digital’s rap round-up…

As the calendar’s most gag-heavy date rolled around again, NORE made his position on April Fools’ Day pranks clear: whoopIe cushions are a timeless classic, but pretending that people’s loved ones have been killed is going too far. Elsewhere, in news that was initially assumed by many to be an [...]

Pazz & Jop: All Rapped Up

Every year the Village Voice poll a huge range of music writers and critics for their top ten favourite albums and singles of the year and then tally the votes up into one mammoth list. This time around, Animal Collective’s ‘Merriweather Post Pavillion’ took the top long-playing spot and Jay-Z’s ‘Empire State Of Mind’ nabbed [...]

Yelawolf

Share

Ten years ago it would have been easy to predict the next stage in Alabama-born but Atlanta-based Yelawolf’s career: Get signed to a major, taken under the wing of a big-wig producer, and then get your marketing bods drumming up a batch of hype based around being a white rapper with a vaguely Eminem-esque white [...]

Send in the clones! This week, MF Doom once again found himself accused of getting an imposter to do his metal-faced bidding at a live show. When HHC Digital reached out to Dumile for a comment, he strenuously denied the allegations − but in a thick Geordie accent, [...]
